A Holistic Multi-Objective Design Optimization Approach for Arctic Offshore Supply Vessels

This article presents a new holistic multi-objective design approach for the optimization of Arctic Offshore Supply Vessels (OSVs) cost- and eco-efficiency. The is intended to be used in conceptual phase an OSV. It includes (a) parametric model OSV, (b) performance assessment models independently operating icebreaker-assisted OSVs, (c) novel adaptation Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm OSVs. To demonstrate feasibility viability proposed approach, series case studies covering wide range scenarios are carried out. results indicate that consideration icebreaker assistance significantly extends feasible space enabling solutions with improved energy- cost-efficiency. further optimal amount icebreaking vessel speed differs different vessels, highlighting motivation optimization. applied ABC proved well suited efficient problem considered.
